This isn't the first, and this won't be the last property we were hired to reshoot, but this is one of our favorites.
(check out our blog for details)
Issues With This Photograph:
Angle:  This is a weird angle. I think they were trying to highlight hardwood floors.
The lines that make this room interesting are the horizontal lines, therefore, emphasizing them by capturing the room in a more aesthetically pleasing way makes the most sense. In particular a better angle.

Orientation: The orientation of the image is in portrait orientation, which is primarily used for portraits or narrow spaces; however, the space was not narrow and should have been taking in landscape mode.

Final Thought: Honestly this a relatively good photograph for an amateur photographer, the owner that took this photograph happened to be an interior designer and was very critical of the pictures that went online. She ultimately decided that some of her photographs were better and used those online instead of the professional photographers until we stepped in.

There are other issues with this photograph, but completely fine for a non-professional, since they aren't expected to fix anything in post processing/editing.
Angle: Maximizes focus on the painting and minimizes focus on the beautiful hardwood or room in general.

Color Correction: Too little or no color correction. Either way, this mostly white room is too red/yellow.

Blown Out Windows: The patio doors are shining bright white because this was not corrected on site or in post production.

Focal Length: Much too narrow, half of the kitchen is missing, but this may have been on purpose.

Composition: I won't comment on the composition, but people have noted that this photo seems too busy and takes away from the room.
Issues With The Other Professional Photographer's Work (opinion of course):
Angle: The focus is on the room itself as a whole, while still showing off the hardwood and keeping the verticals in mind.

Color Correction: Properly corrected color correction. This white room looks more like it does in person.

No Blown Out Windows: You can see through the windows. This lack of blown out windows makes the room seem airier, which is a hallmark of a skilled professional photographer. Imagine if you had a view out of this windows and the windows were blown out...

Focal Length: Significantly wider focal length & correction in post processing/editing for distortion.

Composition: Our goal was to create a very interesting room and if possible deliver magazine level work that we can take pride in.

We were hired to correct another photographer's less than stellar work. Not only was the listing agent not pleased with the results, but the owner of the property who is an interior designer was not satisfied with the other photographer's work for very obvious reasons. Compare our Naughty Photographer's work against another professional photographer.
